SUSAN MacCULLOCH M.Ed., Registered Psychologist
*Not accepting new clients*
As I transition to retirement, I have made the difficult decision to close my practice to new clients. I continue to be available to the many clients I have had the privilege of working with over the years and will ensure appropriate referrals once my retirement plans are complete.
I have been a registered psychologist since 1980 and have worked in private practice since 1994, specializing in individual counselling with adults. I am skilled in treating a wide range of psychological issues including trauma (PTSD, early childhood abuse, post-accident), depression, anxiety, stress management and life transitions.
Early in my career, I realized that there was more to therapy than "just talk" and have completed training in many holistic therapies to deepen my work. These include:
- Integrative Body Psychotherapy (IBP)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Brain Gym®
- Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT)
- Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
- Brainspotting Level 1 & 2
- Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM)
I consider myself a "brain wise therapist" and integrate the latest research into my counselling. Using a simple model of the brain, I educate my clients about basic brain function in order for them to better understand their behaviour and how they can change it. All of the above therapies work because they require participants to notice and pay attention to thoughts, feelings, and sensations in the body. This activates a powerful part of the brain that can literally begin to re-pattern our neural pathways, resulting in real change.
I am able to draw from this extensive toolkit to tailor a counselling plan that works and would be happy to discuss how I may assist you. Before setting up an appointment, I prefer "live" contact via telephone, 403-338-1178; I am also available through email at susanmac.solstice@gmail.com. My office hours are Tuesday and Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm.
