DR. SHARON CROZIER Ph.D., Registered Psychologist

Therapy can help you to deal with life's transitions and help to create positive strategies for change. I believe that you have answers and strength within you. By working together we can develop solutions, strategies, and plans for your future.

I enjoy facilitating healing and growth for people dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship issues or loss/grief which will foster a greater capacity for full and healthy living. One of my passions is helping people to develop positive life plans to move their lives forward, whether that is dealing with career, educational or retirement transitions. I also assist young people who are experiencing failure to launch, which can include building self-confidence, finding meaningful employment, making plans for future careers or post-secondary education.

For individual counselling, with adults, young adults and seniors I integrate a variety of counselling approaches that work best for you, as a unique individual, respectful of your wisdom and inner knowing. I adhere to principles of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Mindfulness Integrated CBT (MiCBT), Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic, Solution Focused Brief Therapy(SFBT).

In career counselling, I utilize evidence-based career inventories (the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers Briggs Type Inventory) to deepen your self-understanding along with career exercises. Facilitating your career and/or educational research I guide you to effective resources to discover suitable options.  I have developed, delivered and trained practitioners on a number of career resource materials including:

  • Career Modules (career planning, resume writing, interviewing and job search) which were utilized by a number of post-secondary institutions in Canada and Australia
  • Co-authored the first CALM (Career & Life Management) textbook for Alberta and authored the first CALM workbook
  • Career Workshops for the UofC staff and Alumni utilized across Canada

Since my own retirement, I have expanded my practice and knowledge to include assisting individuals with the successful transition during this phases of life.

I have been a Registered Psychologist for over 30 years and a member of the College of Alberta Psychologists (since 1983), Psychologists’ Association of Alberta (1983), a lifelong member and Fellow (2001) of the Canadian Psychological Association. I was awarded a lifetime membership in the Canadian Association of University and College Students Services.  I continue to attend professional development workshops, online training and review the literature and pod-casts constantly for new developments in the field.  I have been a Visiting Scholar at Cambridge University, England and Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia and a Visiting Fellow of the National Institute of Careers Education and Counselling in Cambridge, England.

Office hours are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, including daytime and evening appointments. I would welcome the opportunity to be a part of your life’s journey.
