DR. HILLARY SHARPE Ph.D., Registered Psychologist
I believe that all people have the ability to change problematic patterns in their lives and start on the path towards healing or change. We all have wounds, traumas, or struggles that we live with. I can help you to address these and to create different ways of being and relating.
I work from a variety of therapeutic frameworks including narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), art therapy (including photo therapy) and body-focused approaches. I integrate these and other approaches as needed, in consultation and collaboration with my clients. I offer individual counselling to clients aged 12+ and have availability on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays during the day.
I have a PhD and MSc in counselling psychology (University of Calgary) and have worked as a researcher, graduate-level instructor, and counsellor/psychologist in a variety of not-for-profit and academic settings. I have over 15 years of counselling experience and have worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups offering help with issues such as chronic pain, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, relational difficulties, sexual abuse/assault, domestic violence, childhood trauma, suicidality, and grief/loss.
Sessions are typically 60 minutes in length, however if longer sessions are needed this can be arranged. I also offer phone and online counselling when appropriate. I charge $220 per hour as recommended by the Psychologists' Association of Alberta, and accept cash, cheque, or eTransfer. Fees can be reimbursed by extended health benefits. Please check with yours to determine if you are eligible.
